My name is Charles Schwien. I am a visual artist, composer and photographer based in Orlando , Fl. After a 20 year career as a motion graphic designer, I found myself drawn back toward traditional media and the possibilities within a single static image. Through abstraction and non-objective renderings, I am attempting to connect with the more amorphous undercurrents of the human experience, questions that ask  more than the surface inquiries may imply.

I find the most interesting art to be a collision of intentionality and improvisation, unconscious explorations guided  gently by the push and pull of responsive awareness. I work primarily in acrylics, inks and graphite, but am currently exploring a variety of mixed media techniques using gouache, water color, oil pastel, charcoal and various print making techniques.
